Our connect2understand team consists of students from across the globe who are dedicated to spreading cultural awareness and appreciation through creative writing, which approaches themes of culture and identity. We hope our writing encourages conversations on identity, and creates connections between youth, so that we can appreciate the uniqueness of different cultures. Hey there :)! I was inspired to start this creative writing magazine due to my experience of growing up in different cultures- Hong Kong, ShenZhen, and Perth. I want connect2understand to be a space for youth to combine their passion for storytelling with explorations of culture and identity. I am interested in language, culture, and the arts.

Katharine is a freelance writer based in Perth, Western Australia. She is currently working on a collection of poetry to be published in the coming year. She has won multiple writing awards including the Perth College Senior Micro-Fiction Award for 2023 and the HSHS Regional Poetry Award 2022. In her free time she enjoys playing piano, jogging, bike riding and acting.
